Unmasking Narcissism: A Guide to Understanding the Narcissist in Your Life
By Mark Ettensohn, Psy. D.
This book lives up to its title, and I should warn you, if you’re in the “hate his guts” stage of discovering Narcissism, this book will probably really piss you off.
With a very matter of fact tone, Unmasking Narcissism explains the disorder in clear terms and lays out simple (as in uncomplicated) methods for dealing with/managing a Narcissist in your life. Honestly, I really enjoy the tone of the book and the ideas for working with the personality disorder to avoid the Narcissistic Rages and maintain the delicate balance of “peace” with a narc.
The clear understanding of the author of the truth that it’s not always possible to leave the narcissist and go No Contact, and also that there are more situations in life where you will need to deal with a Narc than just romantically, is very helpful. Indeed, I know no matter what I do as far as divorce or separation, he will never be out of my life as we have children, so any knowledge on how to manage a narc is super helpful.
I highly recommend this book for everyone who knows, has known or will know a narcissist.
